Alkaline batteries contain three primary components: manganese dioxide (the positive electrode), zinc (the negative electrode), and steel (the battery casing).

These three components makeup 93% of the average alkaline battery. We differentiate ourselves in the industry by utilizing our superior process, recovering these materials using minimal energy outlay – at purity levels on par with virgin materials.

All parts of the battery are recycled, including the steel.

Alkaline Processing Material Impact

From end-of-life alkaline batteries, we extract a zinc and manganese concentrate that is, which can be used as a dietary supplement. At Cirba Solutions, this concentrate is used as a source of micronutrients in fertilizers, supporting the growth of crops such as corn and soybeans.
